Truro signed off their run into Christmas with an impressive victory over St Ives, making it three wins on the bounce and lifting them to sixth place in the league.
The home side made a blistering start, crossing the line after just two minutes when captain Dan Head powered over for the opening score. Truro continued to apply pressure and were rewarded with a second try, Declan Matthews finishing well in the corner.
St Ives responded with a try of their own to narrow the gap to 12–7, but Truro showed maturity and composure to regain control. The second half was managed superbly, with Head capping a fine all-round performance by claiming his second try of the afternoon.
Truro then finished the match in style. Winger Sam Blake produced a brilliant interception inside his own 22 and raced nearly 70 metres upfield before offloading to Charlie Bowyer. The hardworking second row had shown tremendous determination to keep pace and was rewarded with the try, rounding off a Man of the Match performance. Josh Anderson added two conversions to seal a deserved 24–7 win.
Truro’s next league fixture is away to Wiveliscombe on 10 January.
A Truro side will also take part in the annual Boxing Day clash against Roseland, played away this year with a 1.00 pm kick-off.
