Truro Seconds vs. Newquay Seconds - Friday Night Lights

On Friday night, Truro Seconds played their first game in the “Friday Night Lights” league, providing an opportunity for those who can’t commit to Saturdays to join the second XV squad.
The club fielded a squad of 22 players, featuring some exciting young guns full of running and some experienced older players who may not have as much running in their legs. Daniel Duncan returned to the squad; his age remains unknown, however, the Ironman has never been in better shape.
Truro started strong, scoring early and showing an exciting brand of rugby. There was a good crowd on the touchline with supporters from both clubs.
Newquay responded with a strong centre who scored two quick tries, putting them back in the game.
Another Newquay score in the second half looked to have taken the game away from Truro.
However, with just 10 minutes left, Truro scored again, bringing the score to a 6-point game. Even though Newquay had the upper hand at the scrum, Truro kept trying to use their speed to break through for another try. Unfortunately, the game ended early due to a floodlight failure. Both teams shook hands and enjoyed some good hospitality in Newquay’s new clubhouse.
Looking ahead, the club invites Cornwall Young Farmers members to be special guests for the upcoming game against Helston on Saturday, 4th October, with some special offers at the bar as the club's way of thanking our farming community. Watch this space for more details!
